When one notes the arrival, departure and time of any breaks, it is easy to forget the correct time if the registration is not immediately done. After days, weeks, or after a reminder just before the payroll the reportingis made in bulk and can easily become more of an estimate. The staff knows about this and do not mention such words as" Equal and Fair" in the interviews with such cases.

In this section the number of minutes that are supposed to be incorrect due to forgotten registration(s)are written down. Often it is 2 to 5 minutes / day. Add even at least one minute per day to the time it takes to start the reporting systemon the PC compared to the speed ofusing an RFID tag or a magnetic card on time terminal.

Trust or Confidence reporting
This is the registration method where forgetfulness is most frequent. An example is the case of late arrival. One can be easily stressed by the daily job. One forgets! Sometimes the time pushes for later or postponed registration. But it is also frequent that it is forgotten completely! One case we heard was about a whole vacation day that the manager didn't notice missing.

Distrust between colleagues in terms of wage-based time reportingwasoften mentioned in the interviews. The atmosphere among the employees in this type of workplaces can be similar to those wheretime registrationis completely absent. Or when it is done with pen on paper. Here again "Equal and Fair" are words that do not exist.

Profitability with multiple and correctly placed time terminals.
Collective union agreements contain the agreement: ”The employee shall have changed clothes when the work begins”. This means that the time terminals must be placed after the dressing room, as close as possible to the workplace. For service providers, it means terminals should be on different floors and not only a single one at the entrance. In manufacturing companies, the terminals should be situated in the production area.

Extra walking/approach time of 3 minutes 4 times per day (with a lunch break registration) means annually €1 200 for one employee. And €120 000 for 100 employees. It means unnecessary payroll costs for non-working time. The table below can be used both when the number of terminals to be decided at the start of the project or when the walking time to the already installedterminal(s)is too long.
